47,000 British women have been affected by the global PIP implant fraud, at least one has died from ALCL. Yet no routine diagnostics are offered to UK women, none are monitored. All are at risk from a policy which discriminates against women with breast implants and puts them at further unnecessary risk by failing to recommend the preventative removal of all toxic PIP implants. The rarity of ALCL is simply a question of failures to recognise, biopsy and diagnose patients and an unregulated industry that continues to promote the 'safety' of breast implants.

ALCL typically appears in the lymph nodes, skin, lungs, liver and soft tissue. It almost only ever occurs in the breast area if the patient has had breast implants and, in these cases, the tumours always develop in the scar tissue around the implant capsule.
