Britain to Start Breast Implant Register to Keep Close Watch on Cosmetic Industry | News Tonight Africa
Health Authorities in England are planning to start breast implant database which will register every breast implant operation performed in the country. French breast implant manufacturer Poly Implant Prothese was caught in year 2010 for supplying lower quality silicone gel implants, which were later removed by many women. The breast implant register will work on same principle as hip and knee replacement register.
According to a review commissioned by Sir Bruce Keogh in cosmetic surgery sector, there is need to bring new standards and some control on advertising of the cosmetic products. This step has been suggested strongly to protect people from going for procedures under the influence of misleading cosmetic product advertisements or claims.
